Institute of Petroleum Engineering (Petroleum and Gas), University of Clausthal-Zellerfeld and Kuwait University

Petroleum and gas are the two natural resources behind the prosperity of Arab countries. Research and use of these resources is therefore an essential component of scientific-industrial research in Arab countries.

The German Oriental Society for Higher Education has initiated university cooperation to include participation by several partners. Cooperation between the two renowned research institutes, the College of Petroleum Engineering, Kuwait University (www.kuniv.edu.kw) and the Institute of Petroleum Engineering, Clausthal-Zellerfeld University (www.ite.tu-clausthal.de) is planned.

Also to be integrated in the cooperation between the two institutes are the German Petroleum Museum Wietze (www.erdoelmuseum-wietze.de), the German Drilling School in Celle (www.bohrmeisterschule.de) and a German energy company as an industrial partner. The German Petroleum Museum in Wietze in Lower Saxony is located on the grounds of the old petroleum fields, where the first successful drilling for petroleum in the world took place 150 years ago.

The Kuwaiti General Consul in Frankfurt, H.E. Yousef Ahmad Abdul-Samad, has expressed his willingness to support the joint research project in his country.
